RELOCATION DUE TO CLOSURE OF EUSTON SITE – RAIL GOURMET

Our Ref: HC/15/1

30th August 2017

Dear Colleague,

RELOCATION DUE TO CLOSURE OF EUSTON SITE – RAIL GOURMET

As you may be aware, Rail Gourmet has recently announced it will close its CAV site in Euston and move operations to a new site in Hayes, West London, which will combine the CAV and VTEC units for equipment wash and tray assembly. The reason for this move is that Network Rail decided not to extend the lease on Rail Gourmet’s Euston site due to the progressions with the High Speed 2 project.

The Company will be conducting consultations with RMT over this issue and the first group consultation meeting is due to take place on Monday 4th September which will also be attended by your RMT Lead Officer and Representatives. Individual consultation meetings will take place between Wednesday 20th September and Wednesday 18th October and all members will be accompanied at these meetings by their RMT Representative.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which notes that consultation is due to begin shortly and is determined that no member should lose their job or suffer hardship as a result of this relocation. The Union will also be seeking a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies and a suitable relocation package for affected members based upon the principles of the former British Rail PTR&R agreements.

The move is currently expected to take place in late October or early November and I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash General Secretary
