Dear RMT Member,
REORGANISATION & REDUNDANCY, TRACK RENEWALS SERVICES (SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONS) HIGH OUTPUT — NETWORK RAIL ROUTE SERVICES
You will have received a communication from Network Rail, which implies that several questions we have set out to the company during consultation are closed with our tacit agreement. This is false—we have written to the company to reiterate that we expected full answers to these questions in consultation meetings.
We have also requested that you and your colleagues are released to attend one of the consultation meetings we have organised for Friday 9th and Friday 16th February. We are awaiting the company's response but will add more meetings as we proceed through consultation.
We have registered a Failure to Agree regarding the consultation underway as the company has refused to offer any details of the future work bank and of work that Network Rail intends to tender out to the private sector. It is our challenge that a TUPE situation exists and that individuals should be able to follow their work. The Transport Secretary has confirmed that there will be 4,500km of track renewal work undertaken in CP7, presumably all by the private contractors. The company needs to be transparent with you on these issues.
Tomorrow is the first day of action on the Rail Cuts Cost Lives campaign highlighting that cuts to the CP7 Budget for renewals work do not just impact you but also the public, activists will be leafletting the public across Britain tomorrow and will be holding Lobby of Parliament on the 28th of February. We will write separately on how you can get involved in the Lobby.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
