TO ALL ISS MEMBERS AT NORTH POLE ON THE HITACHI CONTRACT
REORGANISATION, CLEANERS, NORTH POLE – ISS (HITACHI CONTRACT)
Further to my last letter I write to advise you that talks took place with the company on Monday following which the following clarification was given by the company to their proposals: -
• The introduction of the 4-on/4-off roster pattern has been confirmed;
• The implementation of the London Living Wage as the minimum rate on the contract has been agreed. This means that with effect from 1st April 2019 all staff will be covered by the increase in the London Living Wage for cleaners from £10.25 to £10.55 per hour. This means there will be back-pay at this rate payable for all hours as soon as agreement is confirmed.
• Paid shift time will be 9 hrs 15 mins (9.25) hours with a 45 minute unpaid meal break.
• The hourly rate from commencement of new arrangements will increase to £10.89 for cleaners.
Having discussed the proposals with your representatives we believe these are the best proposals that can be achieved through negotiation at this time. Therefore the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to carry out a referendum of you and your colleagues with a recommendation to accept. Please be advised that a rejection of the proposals will likely lead to the NEC calling further strike action.
In order to get a quick turnaround and bearing in mind the Christmas post, we are running this referendum electronically on this occasion. This is so that voting can be concluded by 10th December 2019 because ISS has confirmed that if their proposals are accepted by this date members will receive backpay before Christmas.
You will shortly receive an email from a company called “Election Runner” which will allow you to register your vote. Please follow the instructions and make sure you complete this by no later than 10 am Tuesday 10th December 2019 when voting closes.
Note - Your Voter ID will be your RMT Membership number and your Voter Key is provided in the email from Election Runner.
If you know any of your colleagues who hasn’t received this email, or if you have any difficulties voting please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or firstname.lastname@example.org
THE NEC STRONGLY RECOMMENDS YOU VOTE “YES” TO ACCEPT THE OFFER
