TALKS BREAK DOWN – STRIKE ACTION REMAINS ON

Dear Colleague,

REORGANISATION, CLEANERS, NORTH POLE – ISS (HITACHI CONTRACT)

I am writing further to my previous correspondence on the above matter. Our Lead Officer and representatives met with ISS with the intention of finding an appropriate agreement to resolve this dispute. However, during discussions it became evident that ISS had no intention of trying to negotiate a dispute resolution and only saw the meeting as ‘consultative’.

Despite this blatant resistance, your union representatives continued to negotiate and press the company to withdraw its proposals to allow for appropriate negotiations around the two key issues namely the job role changes and proposed roster changes.  Although the company did commit to considering a withdrawal of the proposals there were no firm assurances arising from the meeting to satisfy the concerns of you and your colleagues. The company even indicated that they intend to continue with their proposals with the revised roster possibly being introduced in the next 7-10 days.

Therefore, we have no other option than to carry on with the strike action, as a way of reminder you and your colleagues are instructed not to book on for any shifts commencing between:-

• 19:59 Hours on Tuesday 9th July 2019 and 19:59 hours on Thursday 11th July 2019

To clarify this means that you do not work any of your shift that commences between these hours.

For example, if your shift starts at 20:00 on Tuesday 9th July and ends 06:00 on Wednesday 10th July, you would not work any of this shift, the same applies on Wednesday 10th July.

However, if you start your shift at 20:00 on Thursday 11th July, you would work all that shift.

Should you need any clarification or assistance, please contact your Local Representative or the Freephone RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 for assistance.

I urge you all to support the action and to stand shoulder to shoulder during this dispute. We need to send ISS a clear message that we will not allow them to continue with destructive proposals.

I will write to you again when I have further updates.

UNITY IS STRENGTH!

SUPPORT THE ACTION!

Yours sincerely
