REORGANISATION, CLEANERS, NORTH POLE – ISS (HITACHI CONTRACT)

Our Ref BR1/15/4

9th December 2019

TO ALL ISS MEMBERS AT NORTH POLE ON THE HITACHI CONTRACT

Dear Colleagues

REORGANISATION, CLEANERS, NORTH POLE – ISS (HITACHI CONTRACT)

LAST CHANCE TO VOTE!

You will be aware from my previous email that a referendum is underway to determine whether you and your colleagues accept the proposals that have been offered by the company as part of the negotiations with your union. If you haven’t already, please use your vote and have your say.

Details of how to vote have been sent to you from the Election Runner platform. There is a link within the email from Election Runner that will take you to a page where you can vote “Yes” or “No” to accept the proposals.

If you know any of your colleagues who hasn’t received this email, or if you have any difficulties voting please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or info@rmt.org.uk

The proposal offered by the company is:

• The introduction of the 4-on/4-off roster pattern has been confirmed;
• The implementation of the London Living Wage as the minimum rate on the contract has been agreed. This means that with effect from 1st April 2019 all staff will be covered by the increase in the London Living Wage for cleaners from £10.25 to £10.55 per hour. This means there will be back-pay at this rate payable for all hours as soon as agreement is confirmed.
• Paid shift time will be 9 hrs 15 mins (9.25) hours with a 45 minute unpaid meal break.
• The hourly rate from commencement of new arrangements will increase to £10.89 for cleaners.

Having discussed the proposals with your representatives we believe these are the best proposals that can be achieved through negotiation at this time. Therefore the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to carry out a referendum of you and your colleagues with a recommendation to accept. Please be advised that a rejection of the proposals will likely lead to the NEC calling further strike action.

THE NEC STRONGLY RECOMMENDS YOU VOTE “YES” TO ACCEPT THE OFFER

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
