Dear colleague


It was brought to your union’s attention by RMT members that ISS had issued staff with information regarding a reorganisation of cleaning staff.  ISS has bypassed proper union consultation over this matter and has instead attempted to carry this reorganisation out via “Employee Representatives.”

ISS know very well that the only representatives they should consult and negotiate with are those elected through proper RMT structures and with RMT officials. Management also know there is a national recognition agreement in place with RMT for ISS transport contracts, but they are trying to ignore this at North Pole.

I have therefore written to ISS today declaring that your union is now in dispute with the company over this matter. Furthermore, while an avoidance of dispute meeting will be held next Tuesday (28th May 2019) to discuss this matter, I have also advised management that should no assurances be given during that meeting then a ballot for industrial action of you and your colleagues will commence.

I know the feeling is high among you and your colleagues over this matter and that is why your union has spared little time in acting to defend your interests.

I hope to be in a position to provide more positive news following the meeting on Tuesday, but, if not, I am sure you will give your union great support and show solidarity with your colleagues when this ballot process is underway.

I will keep you advised of all further developments in this matter.
