Dear Colleague

REST DAY WORKING DYNAMIC PAYMENTS – ABELLIO SCOTRAIL

You will have no doubt received correspondence from the company regarding this dispute. This is a typical Scotrail management tactic, attempting to undermine a dispute when papers are being dispatched. The company are wasting their time on PR stunts and propaganda when they could be getting round the table and negotiating with your union to resolve this dispute.

It is abhorrent that the company need to peddle nonsense and fictitious claims. No matter how much they try to spin the issue, the fact remains that their actions are immoral and unfair. Scotrail claims to treat all their members equally, yet fails to see any issue with honouring an enhanced rate for rest day working to one group of grades whilst excluding all other grades from receiving the same payment.

Scotrail’s response only highlights their clear contempt for the conductor grade. You and your colleagues have been standing on the front line during a global pandemic, ensuring other key workers, like yourselves, are able to get to work and keep the country safe. It is about time management acknowledges this dedication and sacrifice by listening to our concerns and finding a resolution to this dispute.

Do not allow management to win. Votes ‘Yes’ to both questions and return your ballot paper as soon as possible.

The ballot for industrial action will be for strike action, in which members will be instructed not to work Sundays and for action short of a strike, in which members will be instructed not to work any rest days or undertake higher grade duties.

If you have not received your ballot paper by Wednesday 24th February 2021 then please email us at info@rmt.org.uk or contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 and a replacement ballot paper will be sent out to your home address via first class post.

I will continue to keep you fully advised.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
