VICTORY FOR RMT MEMBERS
ACTION CALLED OFF – MEMBERS INSTRUCTED TO WORK NORMALLY

Dear Colleague,

REST DAY WORKING, DYNAMIC PAYMENTS – SCOTRAIL

I am writing in relation to the above matter, as you are aware the union was in dispute with Scotrail over their appalling and discriminative decision to only offer rest day working payments to driver members, whilst excluding other grades. We informed the company that their action discriminates against front line staff and that there is no difference in a driver working their rest days and a member of front line staff working theirs.

After strong representation from the union the company has finally come to their senses and offered a deal that is acceptable to all members. The details are as follows:-

“The packaged offer reflects the full and final offer to you:-

1. The investment of £4m in 100 front line Jobs to support new services.

2. The creation of an additional 40 front line jobs across RMT represented grades of staff addressing members’ concerns of better work life balance and fatigue. This will also create career development and promotion opportunities for our front-line staff.

3. Any grade that attracts a minimum rest day payment would get an additional 3 hours at current hourly rate added to the payment for the rest day worked. For shifts that go beyond the hours worked to achieve the minimum rest day payment you will receive 3 additional hours.

4. This arrangement will take effect from 16th September 2018 and will cease no later than 30th April 2019.”

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and after consideration from your Lead Officer and Company Council, has accepted the company’s offer. Therefore, the overtime and rest day ban is suspended and you and your colleagues are instructed to work normally. This offer is a fantastic achievement and you and your colleagues have demonstrated incredibly unity. There is no doubt that without the strength and solidarity of you and your colleagues the company would not have given these commitments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH!
VICTORY FOR RMT MEMBERS!

Yours sincerely
