Rest Day Working Dynamic Payments – Scotrail

Our Ref: BR2/9/4
8th October 2018

Dear Colleague,

Clarification of Industrial Action Called

Rest Day Working Dynamic Payments – Scotrail

I have been advised by the Lead Officer that there has been some confusion in regard to what overtime is covered by the industrial action.

I think the simplest way to explain would be to state that if the overtime is voluntary then you should refuse to work it.

However, if the overtime is rostered, for example a Sunday that is part of your rostered week then you would be expected to work it. Another example would be for station staff who are rostered at the beginning or end of a shift to open a depot or station or rostered late train running, then this should also be worked as normal.

The question has also been raised as to whether Higher Grade Duty is covered by this action. The answer is no, anyone who is undertaking HGD should continue to do so.

If you have any specific queries please contact your Regional Office or the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or Head Office on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department to seek clarification.

As a reminder the action commences a 00.01 on Wednesday 10th October until further notice.

Yours sincerely,
