REST DAY WORKING DYNAMIC PAYMENTS – SCOTRAIL

Further to yesterday’s letter where I advised you that members had voted in favour of industrial action short of a strike, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter further. The Lead Officer attended an Avoidance of Disputes meeting with the company yesterday but regrettably Scotrail are not prepared to change their positon. Therefore we have no choice but to call action in this dispute.

It cannot be right that the company seem to value one group of workers over another. Their approach to the rest day working payments, where they have offered driver grades enhanced arrangements is nothing short of discriminatory. A driver working rest days is no different than any other member of front line staff working rest days. Each of you is giving your rest time back to help the company run a service to passengers. All staff should be treated equally and fairly so I urge you to strongly support the action the NEC has called, as outlined below.

Members are instructed not to volunteer to undertake any overtime and rest day working with effect from 00.01 hours Wednesday 10th October 2018 until further notice.

Please note - the above instructions do not apply to Traincare Grades C1.1, C2, C2.1, C2.2 and C2.3 who are being balloted separately on this issue.

Important Note on Sundays

Where Sundays are not part of your working week, and therefore classed as overtime, you should not volunteer to work these shifts

Where Sundays are part of your working week, you must continue to work these shifts as rostered.

I urge members to strongly support this action and show Scotrail we are united and will not tolerate such blatant discrimination.
