REST PERIODS, TRAIN HOSTS – SERCO CALEDONIAN SLEEPER

To All Sleeper Host and Sleeper Team Leader RMT Members

Our Ref BR2/8/17
13th November 2020

Dear Colleague

REST PERIODS, TRAIN HOSTS – SERCO CALEDONIAN SLEEPER
RMT CALLS FURTHER STRIKE ACTION

Further to my letter dated the 15th October 2020 with regards to the above matter, once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Serco Sleeper Host and Sleeper Team Leader members for the continued show of strength and solidarity throughout this long and difficult dispute. The industrial action taken to date has been solidly supported by you and your colleagues.

As you are aware, your Union Reps have consistently tried to find a meaningful resolution to this dispute but Serco Caledonian Sleeper refuse to negotiate and continue to avoid any settlement. Therefore, the union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and taken the decision to call further industrial action.

In addition to the action that you have already been advised on, due to take place on the 22nd December 2020 until 24th December 2020 and the 3rd January 2021 until 5th January 2021, you are also instructed to take the following action:

All Sleeper Host and Sleeper Team Leader members working for Serco Caledonian Sleeper are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

17.00 hours on Sunday 24th January 2021 until 17.00 hours on Tuesday 26th January 2021

This dispute is about safe working conditions for our members and management’s failure to provide sufficient berths for rest periods and failure to address the fatigue you and your colleagues are experiencing as a result of this. I urge you all to stand united and support the forthcoming days of industrial action to demand that SERCO Caledonian Sleeper immediately resolve our issues without delay.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT THE ACTION

Best wishes.
