REVENUE PROTECTION DUTY TRAINING DURING H&S REFRESHER TRAINING DAYS, TRAIN MANAGERS - AVANTI WEST COAST

Our Ref: BR2/11/2

TO ALL AVANTI WEST COAST TRAIN MANAGERS

5th November 2020

Dear Colleague

REVENUE PROTECTION DUTY TRAINING DURING H&S REFRESHER TRAINING DAYS, TRAIN MANAGERS - AVANTI WEST COAST

Following my previous correspondence where I had advised you that Avanti West Coast (AWC) has blatantly disregarded the negotiation process. It is disappointing that the company are constantly attempting to frustrate discussions and are deliberately bypassing the negotiation process. AWC have shown a disregard for agreed procedures and continue to claim items are for consultation, when in fact, they are items for negotiation.

The latest threat from the company to impose revenue protection training when you and your colleagues are rostered for health and safety refresher training shows AWC’s clear contempt for the Train Manager grade. This is also a prime example of the company’s clear disregard for the agreed procedures in place.

Therefore, as there has been no movement from the company to try and resolve this dispute, the ballot of you and your colleagues will go ahead as per the National Executive Committee’s decision. When you receive your ballot paper I urge you to vote ‘Yes’ to both questions.

The ballot for industrial action short of a strike will commence on Tuesday 10th November 2020 and you will need to ensure you return your voting paper by no later than first post, on Tuesday 1st December 2020.

To ensure the union reaches the exceptionally high voting turnout, I urge you all to ensure your membership details are correct. If your job title, address or workplace has recently changed, please contact the RMT Helpline by Email at info@rmt.org.uk; or you can call the RMT Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706. Additionally, if you know a colleague who has moved or changed jobs inform them to contact the union on one of the above contact methods so we can amend their details accordingly.

I trust this keeps you advised and I will write to you again once I have further information.

Important Please Note: The Scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is now 'Civica Election Services' and not the 'Electoral Reform Society'. Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.
