RMT REJECTS LATEST PAY OFFER

Our Ref: BR6/0001/NR

21st March 2019

TO ALL NETWORK RAIL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

RMT REJECTS LATEST PAY OFFER

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 - NETWORK RAIL

I write further to my letter dated 4th February 2019 which outlined the latest pay proposals from Network Rail. Having considered the offer, the NEC instructed me to undertake a month long consultation of our reps to gauge the views of members which concluded this week. I want to thank our reps for their assistance in this exercise which has given a broad indication of member’s views on the offer.

The NEC has considered this matter today and, having considered the results of the consultation, has concluded that the overwhelming view of the membership is to reject the offer in its current format.

It is apparent from the responses received that members have fewer concerns with the pay element of the offer and more of an issue with the “strings” that form part of the overall package. In particular there are clear concerns raised over the proposed changes to the PTR&R agreement, the fact that the no compulsory redundancy guarantee only covers one of the years of the two year deal on offer as well as other concerns over the South East Allowance, Managed Stations and the Travel Subsidy elements.

I have today written to Network Rail confirming our rejection of the offer and requested a further meeting to discuss members’ concerns.

I will keep you fully informed of developments.

 Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
