NETWORK RAIL MANAGED STATIONS
ROLE CLARITY CONTRACTS – BAND 5 TO 8 WORKING GROUPS - NETWORK RAIL
Further to previous correspondence, the initial meeting to negotiate a new deal for Managed Stations Staff took place this morning via tele-conference.
RMT set out its demands in the negotiation which are summarised as below:
A new negotiated contract/terms & conditions that fully addresses the nature and actual hours of the work, shift commitments, unsocial hours and Sunday working;
A new negotiated "Rate For the Job" (Spot Rate) for each grade as the Role Clarity and salary banding structure is totally inappropriate;
A new negotiated Job Description for each grade;
That while negotiations on a complete new package may take some time we need an urgent agreement to pay directly for Sunday working above the contracted 35 hour week immediately.
The management side stated that they fully understood the claims made and that they had hoped to be make an offer and outline of their proposals to RMT today.
However, they stated that due to the current national health emergency the focus of the company was on delivering the rail services required and urgent priorities so they had not been able to get authorisation at senior level for their proposals.
It will be a disappointment to members that a preliminary offer has not been made but we have now commenced the negotiations and a meeting will be arranged in April where we will be pressing for an offer and the continuation of the negotiations on all aspects of the deal.
I will keep members informed of all developments.
