Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTHERN (GTR)
INTRODUCTION OF NEW DOO ROUTES – SOUTHERN (GTR)

As you may be aware, your union’s Negotiating Team met with Southern GTR management on Tuesday 13th February in the hope of jointly finding a sensible solution to this long running dispute. Despite the best efforts of your Union Representatives, I regret to inform you that no progress has been made.

Therefore, your union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and has taken the decision to call further strike action as follows:

All Conductor, Conductor Instructor, On-Board Service (GTR ex Conductor) and Train Driver/Train Driver Instructor members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

  • 00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Monday 12th March 2018

In addition to the above, I have written to our sister union ASLEF, reminding them of their assurance to us that the agreed reasons to run without an OBS, in their agreement with GTR, does not include strike action by OBS and I have asked that they advise their members accordingly.

Further, I am making the necessary arrangements for meetings to be held at Selhurst, Three Bridges and Brighton with our Senior Union Representatives and affected members to discuss this very difficult dispute and give members the opportunity to raise any concerns they may have.

The solidarity and determination you have shown throughout this dispute has been exceptional and I urge you to continue standing shoulder to shoulder on the day of action.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION
SUPPORT THE ACTION
Best wishes
