ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – ARRIVA RAIL NORTH

TO ALL ARRIVA RAIL NORTH GUARDS & TRAIN DRIVER MEMBERS

Our Ref: BR2/0146

Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – ARRIVA RAIL NORTH
RMT CALLS FURTHER STRIKE ACTION

In my previous correspondence dated the 23rd May 2017 I advised you that the strike action scheduled for the 30th May 2017 was suspended following the horrific bombing in Manchester. I can now advise you that your Senior Union Representatives have today attended a meeting with the union’s National Executive Committee to discuss the long running dispute over rail safety and Driver Only Operation and our next course of action.

It is the view of your Representatives that as a result of the company’s continued resistance to make any effort to resolve this long running dispute or address the union’s concerns over DOO and guarantee a second safety critical person on the train, leaves us with no other option than to take further strike action.

Therefore, the Executive Committee has taken the decision to call three days of strike action of all our Arriva Rail North Guards and Train Driver members and members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

•    00.01 hours on Saturday 8th July 2017 until 23.59 hours on Monday 10th July 2017

I urge you and your colleagues to stand strong in this dispute and support the strike action. We need to send the company a clear message that we are determined in our campaign to secure a safer and more accessible railway for everyone.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION – SUPPORT THE STRIKE – SAY NO TO DOO

Best wishes.
