RE-BALLOT CLOSES ON THURSDAY 7th FEBRUARY 2019

31st January 2019

Dear Colleague,

ROLE OF THE GUARD AND EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Your union needs you all to return a magnificent ‘Yes’ vote, as you did in the previous ballots. As you know, the company are not responding to your union and are hoping that we do not meet the ridiculous thresholds required in the upcoming ballot. Management will be doing everything possible to try and divide our united position against DOO and to hinder our ballot. Do not let them win, we cannot allow them to use these draconian laws to stop negotiations and allow them to destroy the Safety Critical Role of the Guard.

If you have not received your ballot paper please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk as soon as possible. Additionally, if you know of a colleague who has recently changed their job title, address or workplace, then please ask them to contact the RMT on one of the above contact methods. This will allow the union to amend their details and ensure a successful ballot.

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the re-ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on members’ wishes by the new ballot thresholds.

I urge you not to waste your vote and to vote ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION AND ‘YES’ FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE to defend the vital safety critical role of the Guard and to stop the further spread of DOO. Remember to return your paper by no later than first post on Thursday 7th February 2019.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE – RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION AND ‘YES’ FOR ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.

NO TO DOO!
UNITY IS STRENGTH!
VOTE ‘YES’ TO BOTH QUESTIONS!

Best wishes.
