ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTHERN (GTR) STRIKE ACTION ON SATURDAY 8TH APRIL 2017 REMAINS ON

Our Ref: BR2/0146

5th April 2017

Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTHERN (GTR)
STRIKE ACTION ON SATURDAY 8TH APRIL 2017 REMAINS ON

In my letter dated the 22nd March 2017 I informed you that your union had agreed to talks with Southern (GTR) in the hope of reaching a satisfactory resolution to this dispute. Also, that your union’s National Executive Committee were prepared to suspend the forthcoming industrial action on the 8th April 2017 if talks proved meaningful.

I can now advise you that a meeting was held on the 4th April 2017 and regrettably there have been no specific proposals from Southern (GTR) to justify suspending the industrial action. Therefore, your union’s National Executive Committee has again considered this matter and the strike action on Saturday 8th April 2017 remains in place.

Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between 00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Saturday 8th April 2017.

As always, I have informed Southern (GTR) that we are available at any time for further meaningful talks to resolve this very difficult dispute.

In the meantime, I urge you to continue your outstanding support and solidarity and stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues during the industrial action.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT THE ACTION
SAY NO TO DOO

Best wishes.
