HAVE YOU VOTED? – TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Further to my email of 17th January I am writing to you one last time to ask those of you who have not voted to do so. The closing date for the ballot is this Thursday, 23rd January and ballot papers must be at Civica, the scrutineer, by first post on that day.

As I said I have no doubt management are dragging their heels thinking there is no way you will return a ‘YES’ vote for a sixth time. Obviously we believe the opposite is the case and that you will return a magnificent mandate to continue the fight yet again.

But as I also said, every vote counts. The UK anti-trade union laws are some of the most draconian in Europe and we need a 50% return before we can take any action. It is ironic that not one politician would be sitting in parliament if the same criteria applied.

So please if you haven’t already done so return your voting paper today.

If you have not yet received your ballot paper please contact the RMT immediately on the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 or 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department or e-mail HYPERLINK "mailto:info@rmt.org.uk" info@rmt.org.uk. And we will get a paper sent to you. There is still time to have your say.

I urge you not to waste your vote and to vote ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION and ‘YES’ FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE to defend the safety critical role of the Guard and to stop the further spread of DOO.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE
RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER
VOTE ‘YES’ TO BOTH QUESTIONS

I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.

Best wishes.

Mick Cash
General Secretary

Important Please Note: The Scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is now ‘Civica Election Services’ and not the ‘Electoral Reform Society’. Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.
