NEW YEARS EVE AND 8TH 10TH 12TH JANUARY STRIKES REMAIN ON!

Dear Colleague,

ROLE OF THE GUARD AND EXTENSION OF DOO  - SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Further to previous correspondence, I write to advise you that the NEC has decided to suspend all industrial action called relating to the Guards Restructuring Agreement and the Drivers Restructuring Agreement. Following feedback from your reps after they have spoken, to members it has been decided to suspend this action. The NEC will be readdressing this matter in the new year.

Although the above action has been suspended, all other strike action remains on. As a reminder the current instructions to members are as follows: -

All Guards, Commercial Guards and Train Drivers at South Western Railway are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commences between:-

•    0001 Hours until 2359 hours on Sunday 31st December 2017
•    0001 Hours until 2359 hours on Monday 8th January 2018
•    0001 Hours until 2359 hours on Wednesday 10th January 2018
•    0001 Hours until 2359 hours on Friday 12th January 2018

I urge you all to continue your magnificent stand in defence of the safety critical role of the guard and your support for our campaign to stop DOO in its tracks. SWR need to be sent a clear message that safety must come first and they must commit to a Safety Critical Guard on every train.
