Dear Colleague,

YOUR LAST CHANCE TO VOTE!
PLEASE DON’T WASTE IT
BE HEARD

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAYS

This is the last email you will receive until after the ballot closes and I am asking you to make sure you fill in the ballot paper and place your X in the ‘Yes’ box for both strike action and action short of a strike.

It was difficult enough in the past to take industrial action but RMT members have been steadfast in returning ‘Yes’ votes to defend jobs, terms and conditions, pay and colleagues who have been unfairly treated. Because of our and other unions’ successes, the government bought in even more draconian legislation to make it harder to win a ballot.

There are thresholds that we have to meet before a ballot is legal and these are extremely high. You could return a massive ‘Yes’ vote but if the threshold is not met then we would not be able to take industrial action. So please use your vote.

The closing date of the ballot is Tuesday so today is your last chance to vote. Therefore, If you have not received a ballot already, then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline immediately on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch board on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent to you by first class post. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has not received their ballot paper, ask them to call one of the above numbers to update their details and to receive a replacement ballot paper.

NO TO DOO!
VOTE ‘YES’ TO PROTECT YOUR JOB NOW!
DEFEND THE SAFETY CRITICAL ROLE OF THE GUARD

Yours sincerely
