INDUSTRIAL ACTION ON SATURDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2018 SUSPENDED.
ALL OTHER ACTION REMAINS ON.

Dear Colleague,

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for the tremendous solidarity you have shown during this week’s industrial action and throughout this dispute.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter again and has taken the decision to suspend the Industrial action due to commence at:-

• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 10th November 2018.

Therefore, you and your colleagues are instructed to work normally on this day.

However, all other Industrial action remains on, as a way of reminder you and your colleagues are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 3rd November 2018
• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 17th November 2018
• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 24th November 2018

In addition to the above, we received further correspondence from the company which once again contained disingenuous and incorrect statements. This blatant effort at trying to spread misinformation is shameful and is obviously the company’s attempt at trying to divide us during this dispute. However, I have advised the company that it is probably better to get back to negotiations, rather than sticking to these bizarre and false accusations. I have also informed the company that no further industrial action will be called off until our negotiating team are happy that talks are progressing. Furthermore, I have invited Mr. Mellors to attend these meetings as it would be in his best interest to attend alongside his negotiating team to try and resolve this dispute. The company have been asked to now make the necessary arrangements for a meeting to take place.

Once again, I would like to thank you all and ask that you continue to stand as resolute and strong as you did in the latest industrial action. I will write to you all again once I have received further correspondence and information from the company.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
