ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – GREATER ANGLIA

Our Ref: BR2/0146

1st June 2018

Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – GREATER ANGLIA

I write further to my previous correspondence on the above matter. I recently met with the company to try and find a meaningful resolution to this dispute and to ensure that the Safety Critical Role of the Guard is kept on Greater Anglia’s trains. During these discussions the union raised a number of concerns and offered the company several proposals that would have resolved this dispute. However, the company were not willing to accept these positive and robust comprises. Instead, management outright rejected our proposals and offered very little in resolving this dispute.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and acknowledges that the company have agreed to meet the union again on this issue. However, the NEC believes that in order to focus management’s attention on finding a meaningful resolution to this dispute, that there is no other option than to take strike action. Therefore, the NEC is instructing you and your colleagues to take industrial action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 16th June 2018

• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 23rd June 2018

I urge you and your colleagues to continue with your magnificent support and to stand shoulder to shoulder against the company’s plans to extend DOO on their network. We must force the company to start taking our campaign seriously and to start putting passenger safety before their profits.

NO TO DOO
SUPPORT THE ACTION
SUPPORT YOUR UNION

Yours sincerely
