To All Merseryrail Guard, Guard Standard Managers & Train Drivers

Dear Colleague
RMT CALLS ADDITIONAL STRIKE ACTION
ROLE OF THE GUARD AND INTRODUCTION OF DOO – MERSEYRAIL
First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Guard, Guard Standard Managers and Train Driver members for standing strong throughout this very difficult dispute. The strike action you have taken to date in defence of the safety critical role of the Guard has been rock solid.
I can now advise you that an urgent meeting has been held with your Senior Reps, Regional Organiser, General Secretary and Senior Assistant General Secretary, together with members of the union’s National Executive Committee to discuss the next steps in this dispute.
It was the general view of your Senior Union Representatives that we continue our fight to protect the role of the Guard and oppose the introduction of DOO by announcing further industrial action. Therefore, your union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and taken the decision to call on all our Merseyrail Guard, Guard Standard Managers and Train Driver members to take further industrial action as follows:
All affected members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between 00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Saturday 3rd March 2018.
Once again, thank you for your solid support and I urge you to stand shoulder to shoulder on the day of action.
UNITY IS STRENGTH – SUPPORT THE ACTION
Best wishes.
Mick Cash
General Secretary
