Dear Colleague
RMT CALLS INDUSTRIAL ACTION
ROLE OF THE GUARD & INTRODUCTION OF DOO – MERSEYRAIL

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate you all for voting overwhelmingly in the ballot for industrial action. Our Merseyrail Guard and Driver members returned a magnificent result and should be commended for standing together in solidarity.

Your union’s National Executive Committee has now had the opportunity to consider the fantastic result that our members returned in favour of taking strike action and action short of a strike and has taken the decision to call on all our Merseyrail Driver and Guard members to take industrial action as follows:

All affected are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

•    00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Monday 13th March 2017.

In addition, members are instructed not to work any rest days from:

•    00.01 hours on Tuesday 7th March 2017 indefinitely.

The solidarity and determination of our Merseyrail Guard and Driver members in this dispute has been extraordinary. I urge you to continue to show your strength of feeling to the company and stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues on the days of action.

UNITY IS STRENGTH – SUPPORT THE ACTION

Best wishes.
