ROLE OF THE GUARD & INTRODUCTION OF DOO – WEST MIDLANDS TRAINS

To All WMT Senior Conductor, Senior Conductor Instructor & Train Driver Members

Our Ref: BR2/0146

23rd October 2019

Dear Colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & INTRODUCTION OF DOO – WEST MIDLANDS TRAINS

All WMT Senior Conductor, Senior Conductor Instructor and Train Driver members should now have received their ballot paper for the above dispute. If you have not yet done so please make sure you return your ballot paper to the Scrutineer by the closing date of Thursday 31st October 2019.

If you have not received your ballot paper please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or 0207 387 4771 as soon as possible. It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on members’ wishes by the new ballot thresholds.

I urge you not to waste your vote and to vote ‘YES’ for Strike Action and ‘YES’ for Industrial Action Short of a Strike to stop managements’ plans for Drivers to Open and Close doors on all rolling stock. We cannot allow West Midland Trains to destroy the current safety critical role of the Guard and all that it entails.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE – RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION AND ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.

Best wishes.

Mick Cash
General Secretary
