Dear Colleague,

Role of the Guard & Introduction of DOO – West Midlands Trains

Further to my correspondence of yesterday’s date where I advised you of the magnificent result in the ballot, this matter has now been considered by the National Executive Committee and they have congratulated you not only on the amazing ‘Yes’ vote but also on the amount of votes returned, not far short of 80%.

There can be no doubt in management’s mind as to the strength of feeling of you and your colleagues. Management now need to sit down and seriously negotiate with your representatives. Agreement has been reached with other Train Operating Companies and there is no reason why this cannot happen with WMT.

In light of the ballot result the National Executive Committee, having taken note of the views of your negotiating team, has called the following industrial action:-

Member’s are instructed not to book on for any turns that commence between the hours of:

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 16th November 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 23rd November 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 30th November 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 7th December 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 14th December 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 21st December 2019

00.01 – 23.59 hours on Saturday 28th December 2019
