ROSTERING ARRANGEMENTS – SB RAIL (BABCOCK RAIL & SWIETELSKY)

Our Ref: BR4/8/2

7th February 2024

Dear RMT Member,

ROSTERING ARRANGEMENTS – SB RAIL (BABCOCK RAIL & SWIETELSKY)

Further to SB Rail’s failure to implement and adhere to rostering arrangements that were agreed with your union, regarding payment for roster changes from a day shift to night shift, or vice versa, discussions have been ongoing between your Lead Officer and the company.

The Company has tabled a new offer a one-off payment of £1,500 for all affected employees, in exchange for the removal of the night shift to day shift payment clause. There will be no other changes to terms and conditions.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and instructed me to hold an e-referendum of you and your colleagues so that you can have your say on this offer. The referendum will close at 11:00am on Thursday 15th February 2024.

Referendum Instructions

Members will shortly receive an email from 'RMT Referenda' which will allow you to register your vote. Please follow the instructions and make sure you complete this by no later than 11:00 hours on Thursday 15th February 2024.

If you know of any member who has not received this email or if you are having any difficulties voting, please contact referenda@rmt.org.uk or the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706. If you do not receive your vote immediately, please check your junk/spam folders before contacting us for a replacement.

BALLOT PAPERS HAVE BEEN DESPATCHED

The National Executive Committee have also instructed me to conduct a ballot for strike action and action short of strike. Should the new offer outlined above be rejected in the referendum, the ballot will provide a mandate so that you and your colleagues can demonstrate your commitment to your existing agreement being honoured by voting ‘YES’ for strike action and ‘YES’ for action short of a strike.

The relevant ballot notice has been served on the employer in line with current legislation, and the ballot papers will be dispatched by the independent scrutineer today, Wednesday 7th February 2024 and will be arriving at your home address after this date.

The ballot closes after First Post on Thursday 29th February 2024.

If you have not received your voting paper by Wednesday 14th February 2024, please email info@rmt.org.ukor call the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 to request a replacement. The ballot closes after First Post on Thursday 29th February 2024.

Important Please Note:  The independent scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is 'Civica Election Services'.

Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.
