Save the date – 13th March – Keep the Guard on ScotRail – MSP event
Dear Colleague,
As part of the Union’s campaign to oppose ScotRail’s plans to extend Driver Only Operation on the Barrhead, East Kilbride and Kilmarnock routes, we have organised a drop-in event in the Scottish Parliament to brief MSPs on our campaign and our concerns about DOO.
This is taking place in room Q1.04 in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 13th March 2024 from 12pm to 1.45pm.
We are encouraging our affected conductor members who will not be at work at this time to come along, to meet with MSPs and explain first hand why DOO would worsen passenger safety, security and accessibility. We are also asking you to write to your own MSPs to invite them along.
We need to provide details of those due to attend in advance, so please register here if you are planning to attend by Thursday 7th March at the latest.
If you have any questions about this event, please email Sophie Ward (s.ward@rmt.org.uk) or contact the regional office.
You can use the message below to write to your MSPs, you can write to them easily online here https://www.writetothem.com/
“Dear MSP,
I am employed as a conductor at ScotRail working on the Barrhead, East Kilbride and/or Kilmarnock routes. You might be aware that ScotRail is currently proposing to extend driver only operation (DOO) on these routes. If these plans go ahead, it will worsen passenger safety, security and accessibility, and crucially, will mean there is no longer a guarantee that there will be a second member of staff on board all services.
My Union, the RMT is organising a drop-in event for MSPs in the Scottish Parliament on 13th March, from 12:00 to 13:45 in room Q1.04 about this matter. I would be grateful if you could arrange to meet me at this drop-in event so I can share my concerns about ScotRail’s proposals with you.
Please could you advise if you are available to meet me and at what time?
If, for any reason, you are unable to attend on the 13th March, please could we arrange to meet on another date to discuss this matter.
I look forward to hearing from you.
