RMT CALLS ADDITIONAL INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Dear Colleague

SKILLED MAINTAINER RE-GRADE 4 TO 7 – NEXUS (TYNE & WEAR METRO)

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues on the magnificent show of solidarity displayed throughout this ongoing dispute. The industrial action taken to date has been solidly supported by all our Skilled Maintainer Electrical/Mechanical grade members. It is clear that you and your colleagues are becoming increasingly frustrated at the slow pace of management to produce and agree an assessment process towards a fair re-grading.

I can now advise you that I have received reports from the Lead Officer and your Union Representatives indicating that the company has been engaging outside sources to undertake ‘some’ maintenance work that would normally be undertaken by our members. Therefore, the matter has again been considered by your union’s National Executive Committee who has taken the decision to call further strike action.

All Nexus Skilled Maintainer, Electrical/Mechanical Grade 4 members are instructed to NOT BOOK ON FOR SHIFTS THAT COMMENCE BETWEEN:

• 21:00 hours on Friday 20th December 2019 and 20:59 hours on Saturday 21st December 2019.

NB: The industrial action short of a strike to work to and abide by the criterion of your original job description is suspended for the duration of the strike but will commence again immediately afterwards from 21:00 hours on Saturday 21st December 2019.

I urge you all to continue your support and to stand firm during the days of strike action. We must keep up the pressure on the company to get this matter resolved immediately.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT THE INDUSTRIAL ACTION
SUPPORT YOUR UNION

Best wishes.
