STATION CLEANING CHECK FORM – ARRIVA RAIL LONDON

Our Ref: BR2/14/2

22nd January 2021

Dear Colleague,

STATION CLEANING CHECK FORM – ARRIVA RAIL LONDON

I have received correspondence from our representatives that Arriva Rail London is forcing you and your colleagues to complete a station cleaning check form. This form is effectively monitoring the performance of your cleaning colleagues.

The mandatory method of monitoring fellow colleagues is appalling and causes a huge rift within the workforce. Forms such as this should only be used when there is an issue that needs addressing. They should not be used for the continuous monitoring and spying on other grades.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has noted the correspondence. The NEC understands that whilst members have no issues with reporting cleaning problems they will not be used as a monitoring body for members of another company. Therefore, I have been instructed to prepare a ballot matrix of all affected members. The company has been advised that we are now in dispute over this issue.

In order to ensure a swift ballot - should the need for one arise - I urge you to confirm your membership details are correct. If your job title, address or workplace has recently changed, then please contact the RMT Helpline by Email at info@rmt.org.uk; Alternatively, you can call the RMT Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706. Additionally, if you know a colleague who has recently moved or changed their employment please ask them to contact the union on one of the above methods.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will write to you again once I have further information.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
