STATION STAFFING & SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS, POST-IMPLEMENTATION OF FIT FOR THE FUTURE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/14/5

8th December 2016

Dear Colleague,

STATION STAFFING & SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS, POST-IMPLEMENTATION OF FIT FOR THE FUTURE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Since Wednesday 23rd November, you and your colleagues have been taking industrial action by refusing to work any overtime or rest days as part of the above dispute and to clearly demonstrate to London Underground that the Fit for the Future – Stations programme is not fit for purpose.

This overtime ban, which REMAINS ON, is well supported and as a result the Company has been left with a shortage of cover to fill the gaps left by the cuts. Your Lead Officer has now reported that management want you to train-up and familiarise other LU staff so that they can work on stations and provide cover. Obviously this is not the solution to the dispute and this matter has been considered by your National Executive Committee, which has taken the decision to instruct ALL LUL STATION & REVENUE members NOT TO TRAIN OR FAMILIARISE ANY STAFF WHO WOULD NOT NORMALLY WORK AT OR BE ROSTERED TO WORK AT THE STATION from 00:01 hours on Thursday 15th December 2016 until further notice.

All CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGERS are also instructed NOT TO AUTHORISE ANY OVERTIME and NOT TO SEEK TO COVER ANY DUTY THROUGH THE USE OF OVERTIME from 00:01 hours on Thursday 15th December 2016 until further notice.

I urge you all to support this action to demand that management give their attention to resolving the issues at the heart of this dispute and reversing the cuts, rather than working out different ways to plug the gaps in staffing.

SUPPORT THE ACTION
STAND FIRM TOGETHER – UNITY IS STRENGTH

I will of course keep you advised of all developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
