STATION STAFFING & SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS, POST-IMPLEMENTATION OF FIT FOR THE FUTURE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/14/5

16th November 2016

Dear Colleague,

STATION STAFFING & SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS, POST-IMPLEMENTATION OF FIT FOR THE FUTURE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Following yesterday’s ballot result in favour of taking industrial action, the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to call action and instruct ALL LUL STATION & REVENUE members NOT TO WORK ANY OVERTIME OR REST DAYS 00:01 hours on Wednesday 23rd November 2016 until further notice.

I urge all members to support this action which will clearly demonstrate the failure of the Fit for the Future – Stations programme. The impact of these cuts is so severe that it is even affecting the health of you and your colleagues and safety implications, such as the recent incidents at Canning Town and North Greenwich, will only continue to get worse.

RMT has informed London Underground that the only way to resolve these issues is to have enough fully-qualified staff on all stations at all times, without having to rely on overtime and rest day working. And to reverse the ticket office closure programme.

SUPPORT THE ACTION
STAND FIRM TOGETHER – UNITY IS STRENGTH

A meeting of your RMT Reps will also be taking place to discuss possible further industrial action and I will of course keep you advised of all developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
