Story Plant Redundancies

Our Ref BR6/16/3

27th August 2020

Dear Colleagues

Please find below an update from your Regional Organiser Gordon Martin for your attention

As you will be aware we have had a number of meetings with management in relation to their proposals to implement a number of redundancies and changes to the downtime and lodge/travel arrangements.

Following the most recent meeting in Carlisle on Monday August 24th I can now update you as outlined below.

The number of potential posts being made redundant now stands at eight comprising of seven crane controllers in Scotland and one wagon ( HGV) driver based in Carlisle.

Along with your workplace representatives I will continue to work with the company to try to reduce the number further with our ultimate aim of no compulsory redundancies being required.

To hopefully assist with the aim of there being no compulsory redundancies an agreement has been reached that will see a voluntary redundancy offer of your contractual redundancy plus an enhancement of an additional one thousand pounds being on the table for the affected grades.

As well as the above the earlier proposals from the company regarding the downtime rate has been removed and clarification has been provided in relation to the lodge/travel payments.

The company will be updating you today (27th August) through an email from Adrian Hart.

In the event that one to one redundancy consultation meetings are required please contact me on 07884 655217 or by emailing if you wish to be accompanied at these meetings.

Yours sincerely

Gordon Martin
Regional Organiser
