STRIKE ACTION SUSPENDED

Our Ref: BR2/8/2

11th January 2018

Dear Colleagues

ABROGATION OF ROSTERING AGREEMENTS, OFFICE BASED MANAGERS WORKING TRAINS ON SUNDAYS, SENIOR CONDUCTORS

CROSS COUNTRY

STRIKE ACTION SUSPENDED

PLEASE WORK AS NORMAL ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:-

·         Saturday 20th January 2018

·         Sunday 21st January 2018

·         Sunday 28th January 2018

Further to my previous correspondence, following a series of long and protracted talks between Cross Country and your union’s negotiating team, I am pleased to announce that a breakthrough has been made and it is good enough for the National Executive Committee, having spoken to your Regional Organiser and Representatives, to suspend all further strike action.

I can confirm that the company has committed to the following action points:-

•Increase to the rate of pay for hours worked on a Sunday from £15.89 to £24.63/hour (which is a 55% increase in rate), with the Sunday Shift Supplement of £28.20 remaining in place. •In order to better plan for Sunday working, we would require Senior Conductors to advise us by midday on a Monday rather than Wednesday of their intention to work the next Sunday •If we agree to this option, we will also then implement an Order of Call for the occasions where we might need to end up asking a manager to work a train.  •This offer is for the remainder of the franchise term, and for the avoidance of any doubt does not include any commitment to work Sundays.

Make no mistake, without your resolve to fight for a better deal, these proposals from management would not have been forthcoming and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your solidarity and resilience during this dispute.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will inform you of any further developments on this issue when they arise.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
