SUMMER PAY ENHANCEMENTS – WEST MIDLANDS TRAINS
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you and your colleagues that the RMT has declared a dispute situation with West Midlands Trains over management’s refusal to offer any enhancements to the Station, Supervisory, Fleet and Engineering grades during the summer period, despite offering enhanced packages to other grades.
The RMT believes that all WMT grades make a valuable contribution to the company’s needs and should therefore receive the same recognition. By offering enhancements to one group of grades and not the other is not only unfair, it also creates a divided and undervalued workforce.
Your union’s National Executive Committee has recently considered the matter and believes that there is no other option than to ballot you and your colleagues for industrial action. Therefore, the ballot for strike action and industrial action short of a strike will open on Thursday 7th November 2019 and will close on Thursday 21st November 2019.
If you have not received your ballot paper by Wednesday 13th November 2019 please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department as soon as possible. I urge you not to waste your vote and to vote ‘YES’ to both questions when you receive your ballot paper. It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on members’ wishes by the new ballot thresholds.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE – RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION AND ‘YES’ FOR ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE
I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.
