Dear RMT Member,
SUSPENSION, AGUSTIN OCHOA-MEJIA, GROVE PARK DEPOT, CHURCHILL SERVICES (SE TRAINS CONTRACT)
I have received a report from our Lead Officer that a satisfactory outcome has been achieved regarding the suspension Brother Agustin Ochoa-Mejia.
There is no doubt that this outcome would not have been achieved without the determination and steadfast support of RMT members. This is a huge victory for RMT members and we have showed a tremendous amounts of unity and solidarity. Therefore, I will be advising the company that we are no longer in dispute over this matter.
The Union’s National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has commended you and your colleagues for standing up to management and defying their threats during this dispute.
The tactics adopted by Churchills are concerning and we must remain vigilant against these practices. Whilst we have achieved this enormous victory, at a recent meeting concerning reports were made over Churchills’ ‘cost-cutting’ exercise. The company have already terminated twenty members of staff and are in the process of threatening staff to work at other locations without proper consultation.
Therefore, the Union will be constructing a campaign around raising awareness on the lack of outsourced workers’ rights and highlighting the poor treatment and tactics employed by companies.
I trust this keeps you advised, and I will update members with further details on the campaign.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
