To All Churchill Services Cleaning Grade RMT Members at Grove Park Depot

29th April 2024

Dear Colleague

SUSPENSION, AGUSTIN OCHOA-MEJIA, GROVE PARK DEPOT – CHURCHILL SERVICES (SE TRAINS CONTRACT)

I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that the RMT has declared a dispute situation with Churchills Services (SE Contract) over the disciplinary action taken against our elected Union Representative, Agustin Ochoa-Mejia. The Union believes that Brother Ochoa-Mejia has been targeted for his work as a representative of the RMT and that the allegations against Agustin are malicious and entirely unfounded.

The RMT will not tolerate the victimisation of our elected Representatives and believes that the company should instantly lift the suspension and reinstate Agustin to his substantive role and full duties, with immediate effect.

As a result of the above, the union’s National Executive Committee has taken the decision to ballot our Churchill Services (SET Contract) Cleaning grade members located at Grove Park Maintenance Depot for industrial action. The ballot for Strike Action and Industrial Action Short of a Strike, in the form of a Rest Day Working Ban, will open on Friday 3rd May 2024 and will close on Thursday 23rd May 2024.

If you have not received a ballot paper by Monday 13th May 2024 then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or email info@rmt.org.uk where a replacement ballot paper will be sent to you by first class post. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has not received their ballot paper, ask them to call the Helpline number above to update their details and to receive a replacement ballot paper.

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action, so we are not prevented from acting on our members' wishes by the ballot thresholds. Failure to meet these thresholds means industrial action cannot happen, so a high turnout is crucial.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments, as and when they arise.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
