WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR PAPER MAKE SURE YOU VOTE ‘YES’ TO BOTH QUESTIONS!

Dear Colleague,

SUSPENSION OF RMT REPRESENTATIVES, FRATTON – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

As you are aware, South Western Railway has suspended our representatives Mark Gamble and Brian Perren, following an informal social event. The company’s actions have been callous and there is a clear injustice in the way they are treating our members. It is appalling that our representatives have been left in limbo for over 5 months and are now being threatened with dismissal. SWR’s attitude to the whole situation has been abhorrent and during the process they have been deliberately obstructive. The union can only assume they are attacking your representatives for the hard work they do in tirelessly representing the union and yourselves.

Now is the time that we stand together and send the company a clear message that we will not tolerate this injustice and that we will not allow them to bully anyone with unscrupulous charges. It is imperative that we stand together and demonstrate our strength of feeling to the company. Don’t allow them to dictate who represents you!

Therefore, I am urging you all to vote ‘YES’ to both questions in the ballot for industrial action. It is vital we receive a huge ‘YES’ vote so we can now defend our representatives who have defended you and RMT members over the years.

Furthermore, The RMT Union has produced a poster/leaflet for you and your colleagues to view and distribute as necessary. This can be found Here.

The ballot for industrial action to defend our colleagues Opens today (Thursday 14th May 2020) and you will need to ensure you return your voting paper by no later than first post, on Thursday 4th June 2020. If you do not receive your ballot paper by Thursday 21st May 2020 then please contact the RMT Helpline by Email at info@rmt.org.uk; alternatively you can call the RMT Freephone Helpline number on 0800 376 3706, the RMT switchboard on 0207 387 4771 and ask to speak to the Industrial Relations Department where they will arrange for a replacement paper to be sent. Additionally, if your job title, address or workplace has recently changed you should contact the union on one of the above contact methods where we will be able to amend your details accordingly.
