TEMPORARY REDUCTION IN SALARY, COVID-19 – MACE (TFL CONTRACT)
You will have by now received a communication from Mace Macro of its intention to impose pay cuts on staff and for this to continue for the remainder of 2020.
This, as yet unspecified cut, is being imposed by a company which in 2018 boasted of increasing its profitability by over 40% and holds cash reserves of over £200million.
As soon as this intended action, which won’t affect those on a base salary of lower than £25k, was brought to your union’s attention, your Regional Organiser wrote to the company saying that is was totally unacceptable. This sentiment has been shared by your union’s National Executive Committee, which has also instructed me to keep it updated with all further developments in the matter.
Companies such as Mace Macro cannot be allowed to take advantage of situations such as this health emergency to exploit its workforce. The company is showing a heartless attitude at a time when employers should be concerned about the health and welfare of their staff and not adding to their grave worries.
Please be assured that your union is doing everything possible to resist these attempts by Mace Macro and shall be defending your rights both during this health crisis and long after it has been overcome.
I will keep you advised of developments in this matter and, in the meantime, please accept the best wishes from your union for you and your families during this difficult time.
