TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND RE-ENGAGEMENT ON NEW TERMS AND CONDITIONS – VATTENFALL WIND POWER LTD
As you will be aware, lengthy discussions have recently taken place with the Company over its harmonisation proposals affecting you and your colleagues and the Company has now given its final position, which falls short of our aspirations. Whilst there is a pay increase built into the offer, this does not compensate for the losses on your overall annual and public/bank holiday entitlement or for the loss of service days for ex-Senvion employees.
Furthermore, the Company is now threatening to dismiss and re-engage anyone who does not accept the proposed harmonisation terms and following this alarming development, your RMT Regional Organiser submitted a report to the National Executive Committee over this issue. The NEC has considered this matter and has made it clear that RMT will not accept any move by any employer that attempts to fire and then re-engage any of our members.
The Union will use all means at our disposal to protect members’ employment and in line with the NEC decision I am currently seeking legal advice on how best to protect members’ interests. I have also advised the Company that a dispute situation now exists over this issue and that a failure to withdraw the threat against members will lead to a ballot for industrial action.
I will be writing to Renewables UK and MPs in Barrow and Aberdeen to raise our concerns and seek their support and also involving RMT’s Parliamentary Groups in Scotland and Westminster as well as the national and local press to highlight the conduct of this unscrupulous company.
As always, RMT remains available for constructive talks with the Company to resolve this issue and I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.
