Dear RMT Member,
THREAT OF REDUNDANCIES – LORAM UK
RMT is aware that a verbal announcement was made yesterday by Loram UK regarding redundancies at Derby. As RMT is now the recognised Union for you and your colleagues, the Company should have notified the Union in advance of this announcement and be consulting us over any such proposals, but no approach was made and nothing has yet been received in writing.
Your RMT Lead Officer John Watson has written to the Company demanding an urgent meeting to discuss this matter and has made it clear that RMT will oppose any redundancies and will use all legal and industrial avenues available to us to protect you and your colleagues from redundancy and to enforce the recognition agreement.
At this stage, if any member is asked to attend a meeting with Loram UK regarding redundancy, please contact your RMT Midlands Regional Office on 0121 212 2355 or e-mail John Watson j.watson@rmt.org.uk and Ian Allen i.allen@rmt.org.uk to arrange RMT Representation.
The RMT National Executive Committee will also be considering this matter and I will keep you advised of all further developments. In the meantime, if any of your colleagues are not yet a member of RMT, please encourage them to join by call the freephone helpline number on 0800 376 3706 or join online here https://join.rmt.org.uk/app/#/welcome
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
