TO RMT ARRIVA TRAINS WALES MEMBERS (Northern Area)

DON’T HELP MANAGEMENT UNDERMINE YOUR VWC COLLEAGUES

Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Virgin West Coast Trains

As you may be aware, your union has held a ballot of RMT members working for Virgin Trains West Coast over the issue of their pay increase for 2017. Your colleagues voted overwhelmingly for industrial action and are taking strike action in support of their fight on the following dates and times:-

•    0001 and 2359 hours Friday 15th December 2017
•    0001 and 2359 hours Friday 22nd December 2017
•    0001 and 2359 hours Friday 5th January 2018
•    0001 and 2359 hours Monday 8th January 2018
•    0001 and 2359 hours Friday 26th January 2018
•    0001 and 2359 hours Monday 29th January 2018

You may be asked by your managers to volunteer to work overtime and or rest days to assist Virgin West Coast Passengers. This is an obvious attempt by your employer to undermine your Virgin Trains West Coast Colleagues’ strike action.

However, there is something you can do to show solidarity with your colleagues. We would ask that you do not volunteer for any overtime or work your rest days on the above dates if it is to assist Virgin West Coast Passengers.

By doing this you will showing your solidarity with your Virgin Trains West Coast colleagues and will also be showing Arriva Trains Wales management that you are disgusted at their attempts to strike break.

Unity is Strength

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
