TRAIN PREPARATION SCHEDULE – LONDON UNDERGROUND
BALLOT PAPERS OUT TODAY – VOTE ‘YES’ FOR ACTION
Further to my letter of 15th January, RMT declared a dispute situation with the Company over its dangerous proposal to extend the train preparation schedule from every 24 hours to every 96 hours, leaving trains unchecked for up to four days at a time. Not only will this lead to major fleet issues, it will inevitably lead to more train failures in service putting unacceptable pressure on you and your colleagues and leaving the whole of LUL and the travelling public at significant increased risk.
The Company has so far failed to engage in any meaningful talks or consultation with RMT and has not provided the necessary documentation including risk assessments. Your Union has demanded that no changes to fleet preparation times take effect without agreement and that all current activity in relation to the matter is halted but LUL has instead planned a trial of the new arrangements to start in April 2019.
Ballot papers will be posted to you and your colleagues today and the closing date for the ballot is Thursday 21st March 2019. PLEASE VOTE AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE YOUR BALLOT PAPER AND RETURN IT IN THE FREEPOST ENVELOPE PROVIDED.
If you do not receive your voting paper, or know of a colleague who has not received it, please call the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706, RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 to ask for the Industrial Relations Department or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to request a replacement.
