TUPE Transfer Wettons to Servest (Southeastern Railway Contract)
The RMT was advised yesterday that Wettons’ contract with Southeastern Railway has not been renewed and it will come to an end on Sunday 24th June 2018. As a consequence, Servest has been awarded the cleaning contract and all existing staff will transfer to the new company on Monday 25th June 2018.
Whilst I totally understand this is a worrying time for all concerned, I would like to assure you that the RMT will do everything we possibly can to ensure our members are properly transferred in accordance with TUPE legislation. As you may be aware, all the companies involved have a requirement under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment (TUPE) Regulations 2006 to enter into meaningful consultations/negotiations long enough before a relevant transfer is to take place with all persons who are appropriate representatives with the view to reaching agreement.
Therefore, I can advise you that your union is presently seeking talks with Wettons, Servest and Southeastern to discuss this matter. As part of these discussions, the RMT will request confirmation from all the companies involved that there will be no changes to terms and conditions, working practices, rosters and job descriptions. The RMT will also use this as an opportunity to further our ongoing campaign for a living wage for all workers on this contract.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the situation and I will write again as and when any further developments arise.
