WESTERN ROUTE RAIL FREIGHT FAMILIARISATION COURSE, MOMs — NETWORK RAIL 

 

Our Network Rail National Representatives recently raised concerns regarding Network Rail conducting a Western Route Familiarisation Course on the coupling and uncoupling of freight locomotives. 

 

I have written to the company to see assurances that these tasks do not confer competency nor amend job descriptions and that attendance is not required. This has been confirmed by the company, and I am therefore writing to inform all Mobile Operations Managers that attendance is voluntary and is not a requirement for current competency or job role purposes.

 

I will be writing to Network Rail to request a meeting with our National Operations Council representatives and National Lead Safety Representatives to discuss this matter.

 

I will keep members advised of all further developments.
