Working Conditions – Eurostar

Our Ref: BR2/14/2

13th July 2018

Dear Colleague,

Working Conditions – Eurostar

I am writing further to my previous correspondence on the above matter and where you and your colleagues returned a clear yes vote in the recent ballot for industrial action. As you are aware Eurostar have continuously failed to provide any tangible proposals to improve the working conditions and guaranteed safety of you and your colleagues. This has been evident in the last few weeks where you and your colleagues have been dealing with difficult working conditions without proper resources and support from the company.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and believes that Eurostar has failed to provide a programme of improvements that satisfies our aspirations. Following the recent ballot result the NEC has decided the only course of action is to take industrial action. Therefore, the NEC is instruction you and your colleagues not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 0001 Hours and 2359 Hours on Saturday 28th July 2018

I urge you and your colleagues to stand shoulder to shoulder against Eurostar’s blatant disregard for you and your colleagues. We must force the company into meaningful discussions and to find clear proposals to improve the working conditions. I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will write to you all again in due course.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
