WORKING CONDITIONS – EUROSTAR
RMT CALLS FURTHER STRIKE ACTION
Further to my letter dated the 25th July 2018 with regards to the above dispute, first and foremost I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for solidly supporting the strike action taken on Saturday 28th July 2018. I can now advise you that your Senior Union Representatives attended a further Avoidance of Disputes meeting with Eurostar management where all of the issues of dispute were discussed in full.
During discussions with management your Representatives made clear to the company what sort of measures they would need to commit to in order to bring a satisfactory resolution to this dispute. The meeting concluded with management agreeing to consider matters and then put forward their proposals in writing to the union. At the time of writing, there has been no contact from the company and no proposals have been forthcoming.
The union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and feels that the only way to get Eurostar to provide immediate improvements to the working environment is by taking further strike action. Therefore, you and your colleagues are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:
• 00.01 hours on Sunday 30th September 2018 and 23.59 hours on Monday 1st October 2018
Please be advised, that your Eurostar Train Manager colleagues are also in dispute over the unsafe and volatile working conditions you and your colleagues are subjected to on a daily basis.
Once again, I commend you for the unity and support you have shown throughout this dispute and I urge you all to continue with this fantastic show of solidarity.
UNITY IS STRENGTH - SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION
