RMT CALLS INDUSTRIAL ACTION OVER MANAGEMENT FAILURE

TO DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISE

Dear Colleague

WORKING PRACTICE CHANGES, NEW ROLLING STOCK –

SERCO CALEDONIAN SLEEPER

Further to my letter dated the 9th August 2019 with regards to the above dispute and where I informed you that the RMT had accepted the temporary agreement but remains in dispute with SERCO Caledonian Sleeper until a permanent agreement is in place and all vacancies are filled.

I can now advise you that your Local and Company Council Representatives have attended a number of meetings with the company through the agreed Joint Working Party on Operation Excellence Review and regrettably management has failed to deliver on the promises made that resulted in the temporary agreement. Furthermore, your Union Representatives has reported back that middle management were openly hostile at one of these meetings.

The National Executive Committee has considered the matter and having noted the views of your Union Representatives believes that insufficient progress has been made and now the only course of action is to take industrial action.

Therefore, the Executive Committee instructs you and your colleagues not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

•12.00 hours on Sunday 29th September 2019 until 11.59 hours on Tuesday 1st October 2019.

Additionally, members are instructed not to work any overtime or rest days, not to perform higher grade duties and to work to your original job description from 00.01 hours on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 until further notice.

I urge you and your colleagues to stand united and support the industrial action. Enough is enough. We must force management to give this situation the utmost urgency it requires and put a stop to this outrageous behaviour.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH

SUPPORT YOUR UNION

SUPPORT THE INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Best wishes.
