Strike Goes Ahead

CORRECTION

STRIKE ACTION GOES AHEAD MONDAY

REST DAY WORKING BAN STILL ON

Dear Colleague,

ROLE OF THE GUARD AND INTRODUCTION OF DOO - MERSEYRAIL

Further to my email earlier tonight the description of the current industrial action in our dispute with Merseyrail was incorrect. Please disregard this earlier letter and read the following.

As previously instructed since 00.01 hours on Tuesday 7th March 2017 Merseyrail Guards, Drivers and Guard Standards Managers have been instructed to take industrial action by not working rest days indefinitely.   Following on from our successful defeat of Merseyrail in the High Court, the strike action called from 00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Monday 13th March 2017 remains on.

Merseyrail should stop running to the Courts and instead engage with your union over the core issues in this dispute. We demand the retention of the safety critical role of the guard who should be present on every train. I urge you all to stand shoulder to shoulder during the action.

UNITY IS STRENGTH - SUPPORT THE ACTION

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash

General Secretary
